Raleigh beverage startup raises another $180,000

Tribucha, a kombucha brewery, launched its line of kombucha drinks two years ago, has raised another $180,000.

The new funding was disclosed in a securities filing on Monday.

A total of 19 investors have participated to date in the startup's financing.

The company still hopes to raise another $100,000.

Last November, the company raised an initial $375,968, according to a filing at the time.

The company said the proceeds will go toward compensation and a streamlined place of production.

Kombucha is a variety of fermented, lightly effervescent sweetened black or green tea drinks that are commonly intended as functional beverages for their supposed health benefits, according to Wikipedia.

Adrian Larrea and Jonathon York are the co-founders.

Tribucha’s investors include Jim Geikie, the CEO of Burt’s Bees, and Cary venture capitalist David Gardner.
